Offer Description
Assistant position in the Division for Marine and Environmental Research, Laboratory for Marine and Atmospheric Biogeochemistry, Rudjer Boskovic Institute, Zagreb, Croatia. The successful candidate will work on the HrZZ project “Pollen in the Adriatic Sea: input dynamics, chemical characterization and effects on primary production” (POLLMAR). The PhD candidate will enroll in the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Oceanology at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.

Specific Requirements
The grade point average at previous levels of study (undergraduate, graduate or integrated study) that ensures enrolment to Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Oceanology, active knowledge of English, both spoken and written, motivation for research, teamwork, and fieldwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
In addition to the application form document, applicant needs to provide: Curriculum Vitae (CV), Diploma, Supplement (undergraduate and graduate, i.e. integrated studies) confirming which exams were passed and which grades obtained, e-mail address of at least one referee, and other evidence needed for satisfying position related selection criteria.

Eligibility criteria
Candidate should have Master degree (or equivalent) in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology, eco-engineering, chemistry and biology (teacher education track), or environmental sciences, thegrade point average at previous levels of study (undergraduate, graduate or integrated study) that ensures enrolment to Interdisciplinary Doctoral Study of Oceanology. Advantage will be given to candidates with a strong motivation for scientific research, who have experience in scientific research, particularly in the field of marine and environmental research, and in laboratory work, who have received awards for excellence in studying and research work, participated in research projects, published scientific papers, presented at scientific conferences, and have valid driving license (category B).
Additional comments
Selected candidates who have achieved their higher qualifications outside Croatia will be required, before the signing of the employment contract, to obtain the Ruling on the Recognition of Foreign Higher Educational Qualifications issued by the Agency for Science and Higher Education.
With an applicant for the position of Doctoral Student (Assistant position) who has already been employed in the position of Doctoral Student (Assistant position) in the Republic of Croatia, the employment can be contracted only on the remaining time of up to five years.
Assistant is required to enroll in postgraduate university studies (doctoral studies).
A work contract with an assistant can be concluded upon the consent of Croatian Science Foundation.
The employment includes a six-month trial period.
