Offer Description

Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division for Marine and Environmental Research, the Laboratory for physical oceanography and chemistry of aquatic systems, at the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, Croatia. The postdoctoral fellow will be associated with the project ‘Unraveling Insect Resistance to Extreme Heat Stress’ funded by the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). The successful candidate should have a background in natural sciences (PhD in Biological Sciences) and be fluent in written and spoken English.  Type of Contract: fixed term of 2 years, or until the end of the project.

The successful candidate should have gained PhD in the field of Biological Sciences and have active knowledge in written and spoken English. 

Specific Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates who have (i) experience in field data collection and readiness to conduct intense field work; (ii) research experience in working with ants; (iii) research experience in animal behaviour and evolutionary biology; (iv) previously participated in scientific research: published peer reviewed scientific publications, presented in scientific meetings/conferences; (v) active users of R or another programming language as well as software for analysing orthovideos such as Pix4D or similar; (vi) excellent analytical and communication skills, and ability to work in a team; (vii) driving experience (driving license category B).

In addition to the application document, applicant needs to provide: Curriculum Vitae (CV), Diploma, e-mail address of at least one referee, and other evidence needed for satisfying position related selection criteria.

Selected candidates who have achieved their higher qualifications outside Croatia will be required, before the signing of the employment contract, to obtain the Ruling on the Recognition of Foreign Higher Educational Qualifications issued by the Agency for Science and Higher Education. 

The candidate cannot be employed as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Republic of Croatia for a total of more than four years. 

The employment, according to the Rules of the Recovery and resilience plan for Croatia - for work on a project as Postdoctoral Fellow, can be contracted only with candidates whose period between the completion of doctoral studies and this employment is no longer than 7 years. 

The employment includes a six-month trial period
