ANNOUNCES VACANCY

For the appointment to:

the associate position of postdoc for a full-time fixed-term position with an expected duration of 1 year and 7 months, or at the latest until 30 November 2027, in Humanities, field of Philology, branch of Croatian Studies, pursuant to the contract for the research project of the Croatian Science Foundation entitled “Language variation in Croatian books of the Early Modern period (based on the Gospels corpus)” (IP-2025-02-2567), led by Asst. Prof. Ivana Eterović at the Department of Croatian language and literature – 1 employee (m/f). 

Along with a signed application, the applicants need to enclose:

• a signed CV (maximum 1 page long)
• a certificate issued by the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) containing information on the applicant from its database (e-Employment Record Book)
• a copy of a certificate proving the level of education required and/or the obtained academic title
• bibliography and offprints of articles pertinent to the appointment, and a detailed presentation of scientific, teaching, and professional activities
• a certificate stating that the applicant’s diploma acquired abroad has been approved by the Croatian authorities
• a copy of a certificate proving any previous selection to an academic title
• proof of citizenship; foreign citizens need to enclose a certificate of proficiency in the Croatian language (advanced level)

CV, bibliography, and information on scientific, teaching, and professional activities must be submitted electronically (on a USB flash drive).

All materials must be supported by evidence (submit papers, documents and other proof in PDF format). 

Conditions:

Applicants (m/f) are expected to meet the requirements prescribed by the Science and Higher Education Act (as published in Narodne novine, no. 119/22).

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Croatian studies, linguistics, or other related branches in the field of philology. 

A person may be employed in the position of postdoc if they have been engaged in scientific research for up to ten years (counted from the enrolment in the doctoral programme). This period may be extended in cases involving maternity or parental leave or long-term illness, either before or after obtaining the doctoral degree. 

A postdoc may be employed in a single Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) project for a maximum of two years. If the postdoc has previously been employed in the associate position of postdoc, the total period of salary funding may not exceed four years, including employment within a HRZZ project. 

Additional condition:

• motivation letter (one to two standard pages of text)

Advantages:

• experience in researching the history of the Croatian language
• experience in participating in scientific and professional conferences
