Offer Description
  • Academic research with a view to obtaining a PhD in Criminological Sciences or a PhD in Law. 
  • Research focus: administrative and criminal law enforcement in a European and comparative perspective. 
  • Research domain: the role of artificial intelligence in the collection and assessment of evidence within the context of Belgian criminal investigations. 
  • In addition, the position includes providing limited support for teaching activities within the research line: primarily supervision of master’s theses and assistance with exam administration, including exam supervision.
  • Master’s degree in Criminological Sciences.
  • Master’s degree in Law, provided that you can demonstrate solid knowledge of the criminological field and possess the required methodological knowledge and skills.
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, provided that you can demonstrate solid knowledge of the criminological field and have a strong affinity with law enforcement practice.
  • You have thorough knowledge of the organisation, functioning, and competences of the police and judicial authorities in Belgium, as well as of European criminal justice policy.
  • You are familiar with qualitative, quantitative, and comparative legal research methods.
  • You possess demonstrable didactic skills.
  • Preferably, you already have experience in developing research proposals.
  • You are motivated by autonomy and responsibility and strive to deliver high‑quality work.
  • You are collegial and communicative.
  • You are well‑organised, precise, and efficient.
