Overview of the general conditions

Candidates are expected to develop a dissertation in the main research areas of the research group. Experience in consumer psychology and/or social cognition is advantageous.

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.

The gross monthly salary in salary group B 1 is EUR 3,776.10 (§48 VwGr. B1 basic level (praedoc)) on a full-time basis. The actual salary will be adjusted to the number of hours required for the position.

Your future tasks

  • Participation in research, teaching, and administration in our team
  • Independent teaching in Social Psychology and Consumer Psychology (on average 2 hours per semester)
  • Writing a dissertation in one of the core research areas of the research group (completion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expected)

Admission requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent (Diploma) in psychology or a related discipline, completed by the contract start date
  • Interest in developing a PhD thesis in one of the main research areas of the group
  • Excellent master’s thesis
  • Experience in empirical research (e.g., internships, experience as a student research assistant)
  • Excellent knowledge of quantitative methods (including competencies in the application of SPSS or R)
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English
  • Experience in programming experiments is of advantage
