Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting September 01, 2026, and ending after 6 years
Do you want to research how leaders can design and navigate organizational change in more effective ways? Join the Institute for Leadership and Strategic Change to study how change processes can be strategically designed and facilitated, with particular attention to leader interventions and employees’ responses to change (e.g., resistance and support). We are especially interested in change processes related to contemporary societal challenges such as AI, sustainability, or large-scale transformations of work and organizations. The position also offers the opportunity to gain your first teaching experience. If these topics excite you, we look forward to your application.
What to expect

- Teach and support courses: You will independently plan and teach courses.
- Support organization and administration: You will help fulfill the institute’s administrative responsibilities.
- Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
- Work as part of a team: You will join a team of committed researchers who collaboratively advance research projects.
- Benefit from a strong research environment: You will work in an excellent, internationally connected team that supports you in developing your own projects, advancing publications, and expanding your network.
What you have to offer
- Academic degree: You have a diploma/master’s degree in business or other social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics) that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
- Passion for research: You are highly motivated to pursue an academic career and aim to publish your work in reputable scholarly journals.
- Relevant expertise and experience: You bring initial knowledge in areas such as change management, transformation, organizational development, change leadership, or the psychology of change. Ideally, you also have some first work experience in these fields.
- Research methodology: You have solid training in quantitative (including the use of relevant software such as R, Mplus, Stata) and/or qualitative research methods.
- Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats. You are also able—and willing over time—to teach courses in both English and German.
- International experience and language skills: You can demonstrate international exposure in your studies. Strong English and German skills are an important asset.
- Digital skills: You are confident using standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, video conferencing tools) and can quickly learn new systems.
- Engagement: You work independently, take initiative, and act as a team player.
