As a Postdoc in the Taschner-Mandl Group, you will lead innovative research projects investigating the molecular mechanisms of neuroblastoma metastasis (e.g. Fetahu IS et al., 2023, Nat Comms) in an internationally recognized research environment. At the Taschner‑Mandl Group, you will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary research team dedicated to advancing our understanding of childhood cancer. Your responsibilities:
- Lead and execute research projects focused on tumor–microenvironment interactions in neuroblastoma metastasis
- Investigate how microenvironmental cues influence tumor cell behavior and identify therapeutic leverage points
- Develop and characterize complex 3D patient- and iPSC-derived models
- Design, perform and interpret complex experiments; ensure high data quality and reproducibility
- Write manuscripts and present at scientific conferences
- Apply for fellowships and contribute to grant applications
- Supervise, mentor and support junior team members

Skills/Qualifications
What you bring for this position:
- PhD degree in molecular biology or related field
- Experience in cancer research or metastasis
- At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Solid experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Practical experience working with 2D and 3D culture models
- Hands‑on experience with iPSC cultures and differentiation assays
- Experience conducting drug screens
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Highly self-motivated, independent and proactive working style
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Team‑player mindset and enthusiasm for translational pediatric cancer research
