Your Responsibilities
- Carry out research projects within the quantum gravity group and contribute to its scientific goals
- Participate in joint seminars and research meetings
- Develop new research directions aligned with the core themes of the group
- Contribute to the supervision and mentoring of students within the group
- Participate in the scientific life of the Graz Physics Department, including teaching activities as required by university regulations
- Engage in the broader academic activities of the institute, helping to foster a vibrant and collaborative research environment
Your Profile
- Doctorate/PhD in Theoretical Physics or a closely related field
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantum gravity, renormalization group methods, effective field theory
- Prior postdoctoral and/or co-supervision experience is highly desirable
- Excellent English skills in speaking and writing
- Enjoyment of scientific work and interacting with students
- Independent and goal-oriented way of working

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70,200.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

Organisational Unit
The Institute of Physics at the University of Graz invites applications for a 3+3-year senior postdoctoral position, starting in the Fall of 2026 (or earlier, subject to agreement). The successful candidate will join the Quantum Gravity Group led by Alessia Platania. The group offers a highly stimulating and supportive research environment, with regular internal meetings, journal clubs, and thematic discussions. Members benefit from strong international connections and opportunities for collaboration. In particular, the Graz group will work in close synergy with Alessia Platania’s parallel research group at the Niels Bohr Institute, with regular joint meetings as well as research visits in both directions.
