The requirements profile encompasses experience in contributing to and coordinating research projects, solid expertise and research experience in variational and corpus linguistics (with a focus on Austria), as well as foundational technical competencies and familiarity with current developments in the field of Digital Humanities.
Your Tasks
- Coordination and networking of linguistic sub-projects and satellite projects within DynAT

- Corpus-linguistic and lexicographic processing and analysis of language data and language corpora held at the Institute
- Contribution to the preparation and submission of project proposals in the context of language variation and language change research
- Collaboration within the “Linguistics” research department at the ACDH
- Participation in project working meetings (in a wide variety of configurations and sizes), workshops, conferences, and symposia
Your Profile
- Completed doctorate in one of the following fields: German Philology/German Studies with a focus on linguistics; Linguistics with a focus on German
- Experience in contributing to and coordinating research projects
- Experience with linguistic research using digital methods
- Familiarity with digital methods and tools in the Digital Humanities (DH)
- Experience with the processing of large datasets and/or semi-automated curation workflows, in particular with XML databases, is an advantage
- Very good command of German, very good command of English
- Ability to integrate into and work effectively within a team, independence, reliability, resilience, and flexibility
Our Offer
- An international, diverse team in the heart of Vienna
- Work with unique data and corpora on language(s) in Austria
- A strong focus on innovation and new technologies in an exciting multidisciplinary working environment
- Flexible, family-friendly working hours
- Independent, autonomous working, with room to contribute your own ideas and initiative
- A working environment in which you can further develop your own interests and skills
- An open communication and organisational culture (open-door policy)
The initial gross monthly salary is at least EUR 5.011,96 in accordance with the collective agreement for employees of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. A higher salary is negotiable depending on experience or academic qualification. The start of employment is planned for May 2026 and is limited to 5 years.
