When you apply for a position with ACIAR, or commence employment, you are asked to provide personal information so that we can manage the recruitment process and employment-related functions. By submitting an application, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described below.

How we collect your information

We collect personal information directly from you when you submit your application. We may also collect information at other stages of the selection process, including through interviews and any competency, medical or other assessments.

With your consent, we may collect information from third parties such as referees. We may also collect information from third parties where required or authorised by law.

How we use your information

For successful applicants, information from the selection process may be used to provide reasonable adjustments in the workplace and for ongoing employment related functions, including the Document Verification Service (DVS) to obtain ID verification.

ACIAR will disclose your information only as required by or allowed by law.

Who your information will be used by

Your information will be used by members of the selection panel responsible for assessing your application; the delegate (the manager who has overall authority to approve selection decisions); and the staff of human resources who manage and administer the induction of employees.

If you are successful through a gazetted recruitment process, your name and limited personal information will be published in the Public Service Gazette, as required under APS employment legislation.

Where external service providers are engaged to assist with recruitment activities, your information may be disclosed to them for this purpose. All such providers are subject to confidentiality and privacy obligations.
